Samo square

Samo is a project integrating light into the mirror.

It interacts with space reflecting its surroundings when off and brightening them up with their light.

It works perfectly as a mirror both when on and when off, its surfaces combine reflecting areas and emitting areas according to a graphic pattern. nothing is added to the reflecting surface, the approach is based on subtraction with the integration of an optical engine operating on the back of the mirror, whose light flows out of the surface across areas with different surface treatments.

The custom-designed optical unit directs about 80-90% of the emitted light towards the user’s face, while the other 10-20% on the back is directed outwards to create a light base around the mirror’s surface and thus obtain a soft, floating effect.

This optical and surface treatment principle is at the basis of two different formal versions designed to respond to varying space requirements. the form and the size of the two separate areas are defined in view of ensuring the best possible balance of proportions and lighting requirements with respect to perception of the user’s image reflected by the mirror. this principle can be developed into a variety of formal options, thus allowing to design customized solutions.

Samo is ideal for home use and, particularly, for all hospitality venues. It is perfect in the bathroom, but also as a functional and furnishing element in living areas.
