At Dutch manufactory Arco almost everything revolves around tables. What makes the new model, called “Trestle”, so special? Jorre van Ast, designer and MD of the family-owned company, explains – in interview with Uta Abendroth.

Jorre van Ast (born 1980) studied Industrial Product Design at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 2006. Since then he has set himself up as an independent designer and has his own design studio in London. Several of his designs have already won awards, including the 'Jar Tops' he designed for Royal VKB, which are now part of the permanent collection at the MoMa in New York. Jorre van Ast has been working for Arco since 2007. He initially worked for the company on a part time basis and now works for the company full time as Creative Director.
