Industrial and classic, strong and elegant: Disconnect, the new floor lamp from the Diesel with Foscarini collection, is based on distinct contrasts in style. Two different worlds are united both symbolically and physically by a mechanical joint. The dichotomy between the two languages is emphasised by the finish of the rough metal base and the treated fabric of the diffuser, creating different textures that underline the disconnect between the two parts on which the structure stands.
The base in cast metal has an industrial character, defined by its weighty look, which its real weight corresponds. Its presence is highlighted by its color, a lead gray with a rough, resistant finish, recalling old metal tools.
From the solid base, a metal arm goes up into a delicate stem, where the washed fabric lampshade, with simple and classic lines, is positioned to allow light to shine through. When the lamp is on, the fabric reveals a pattern that interacts with the light, giving it a moiré effect and creating a sensual contemporary allure.
